OLED Vs QLED: Which is better?

If you’re thinking about getting a new TV, and you’ve heard all this talk about OLED Vs QLED and confused in choosing which one to buy? Let’s break it down in a way that’s easy to understand.
OLED vs QLED: The Difference?
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode)
OLED TVs are super cool because each pixel makes its own light. This means they can turn off completely, so the blacks look super deep, which is awesome for watching movies in the dark.
QLED (Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode)
QLED TVs have an LED backlight with this extra layer of quantum dots that makes colours really bright and poppy. They’re not as good with black levels, but they do get super bright, which makes them great for watching in bright rooms.
The Picture Quality
Lets classify the picture quality into three parameters
1 Blacks and Contrast
OLED can turn pixels off completely, so you get that “true black” look.
QLED tries to compete but can’t turn off individual pixels, so you might see a little glow around bright objects on a dark background.
2 Brightness
QLED is the brightness king, so if you watch a lot in a room with lots of windows or light, QLED will look clearer.
OLED is getting better with brightness, but it still can’t get as bright as QLED.
3 Colour
Both types are awesome with colours, however, OLED can show super rich colours and more shades. QLED has levelled up with quantum dots, so it’s really good too.
The Viewing Experience
Viewing Angles:
With OLED, you can sit pretty much anywhere in the room, and it’ll look great. Colors stay the same from the side.
QLED has gotten better, but from an angle, colors might look a little faded.
Burn-In:
OLED might have “burn-in” if you leave the same image on the screen for too long. Not the best if you plan to leave it on one channel all day.
QLED doesn’t have this problem, so it’s perfect for watching lots of different stuff without worrying.
The Price
OLED TVs are usually more expensive, especially in bigger sizes.
QLED comes in more sizes and usually has better deals.
Still Confused?
Pick OLED if you like to have
Amazing black levels and picture quality
A cinema-like experience in darker rooms
Pick QLED if you like to have
Higher brightness for a room with lots of light
More size options that don’t break the bank
Still cannot decide?
Walk into a TV showroom nearby and see it by yourself which is more appealing to you.
I personally will go for OLED because I like to watch TV in darker rooms and OLED gives a cinema-like experience in darker rooms.
